Sunrise Over the Mactan Island

As of July 2021, the China-Japan co-funding language school, JJ SCHOOL (Anonymous), which is located on the renowned “Island of Language-learning” —— the Mactan Island in the Philippines, has imposed a “total quarantine” on campus for over one year. Consequently, hundreds of images of “the Sun” taken since March of 2020 to date have been stored in the album on Melanie Cuadra’s iPhone 6S. The “Sunrise Over the Mactan Island ” is a video jointly created by Melanie and the team of the Huesio Geological Museum, containing an extracted footage of the sunrise view recorded by Melanie at 5:03AM on 15 March, 2021; also, the painter, YANG Ray, was commissioned by them to paint the scene where Melanie walked along the “tiny beach” in JJ SCHOOL during the golden hour, with her pondering face bathed in soft sunlight.

“Sunrise Over the Mactan Island? ” is a collaborative work made by Melanie Cuadra and the team of the Huesio Geological Museum.
